Pic. 130. Checking the functionality of the thermostat
To test the thermostat, tie a piece of wire to it and lower it into a container filled with water (pic. 130). Lower the thermometer in the same way. Make sure that the thermostat and thermometer do not touch the bottom and walls of the container.
Gradually heat the water and use the thermometer to determine at what temperature the thermostat will open.
The thermostat should start to open at 85-89°C. At 100°C it should open fully.
After checking the thermostat (still hanging on a wire) put it in cold water and see if it closes in 30 seconds.
