Fluid Pump Replacement

To replace the fluid pump on a 16 valve engine:

- Remove a gear drive belt of the gas-distributing mechanism;

- disconnect the wire from the terminal «–» battery when taking precautions;

- Establish a forward part of the car on support;

- Drain the coolant from the cooling system;

- lock the fluid pump pulley from turning and loosen the screws;

- release the belt tension roller by turning the middle screw;

- remove a belt, rotating a tension roller to the right;

- unscrew the pump pulley;

- disconnect the hose from the liquid pump (cut the clamp and replace with a new one when installing);

- Remove the toothed drive belt;

- Remove a running roller of a gear drive belt;

- turn off the liquid pump (pic. 124) and lift it up.

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:

- always use new seals;

- tighten the screws of the liquid pump and its belt pulley with a torque of 20 Nm, and the pulley with a torque of 12 Nm;

- fill the cooling system.


To replace the water pump on a V6 engine:

- Disconnect and remove the storage battery;

- Drain the coolant from the cooling system;

- Remove the fluid pump drive belt;

- Disconnect and remove a hose of the liquid pump in the place shown on fig. 125. The spring clamp must be cut and replaced with a new one and at installation;

- release the wire harness fastened with a spring clip and move the cable aside;

- Turn away screws of fastening of the liquid pump;

- remove the pump.

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:

- always use new seals;

- tighten the screws (pic. 126) torque 18 Nm;

- fill the cooling system.
