Removal and installation of a starter

The order of removal and installation on the 16-valve engine and the V6 engine is different.

Remove and install the starter on a 16-valve engine as follows:

- disconnect «mass» battery wire;

- Disconnect the large air hose from the air filter and remove the multi-contact plug connector of the air flow meter;

- Remove the air filter;

- raise the front of the car;

- disconnect electric wires from a starter and again put the car on wheels;

- unscrew the top bolts of the starter (under one of the bolts is a wire on «mass»);

- Raise the front of the car on the supports again;

- unscrew the lower fixing bolts and remove the starter.

Install in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the starter bolts to 35 Nm.

Remove and install the starter on the V6 engine as follows:

- disconnect «mass» battery wire;

- disconnect from the air filter big and remove a multicontact plug socket;

- completely remove the air filter - the entire unit with the air flow meter and the inlet hose, unscrew the filter mounting supports;

- Disconnect electric wires from a starter;

- Unscrew the contact bracket of the starter;

- Remove the fuel line located on a way;

- unscrew both starter mounting bolts, the space for removing the starter is limited, when removing it, try not to damage the pipelines and wires.

Install in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the starter bolts to 35 Nm.
