Removing and installing the starter (Mondeo 2)

The removal and installation procedure on a 16-valve engine and a V6 engine is different.

Removal and installation of the starter on a 16-valve engine is carried out as follows:

- disconnect the ground wire from the battery;

- disconnect the large air hose from the air filter and remove the air flow meter multi-pin connector;

- remove the air filter;

- Raise the front of the car;

- disconnect the electrical wires from the starter and put the car back on its wheels;

- unscrew the upper bolts of the starter (there is a ground wire under one of the bolts);

- Raise the front of the car onto supports again;

- unscrew the lower mounting bolts and remove the starter.

Install in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the starter bolts to 35 Nm.

To remove and install the starter on a V6 engine, proceed as follows:

- disconnect the ground wire from the battery;

- disconnect the large air filter and remove the multi-pin plug connector;

- remove the air filter completely - the entire unit with the air flow meter and intake hose, unscrew the filter mounting supports;

- disconnect the electrical wires from the starter;

- unscrew the starter contact bracket;

- remove the fuel line located in the way;

- unscrew both starter mounting bolts, the space for removing the starter is limited, when removing it, try not to damage the pipes and wires.

Install in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the starter bolts to 35 Nm.
