A. The red indicator lamp does not light up when the ignition is turned on

The battery is empty
|
Start the engine using the wire connecting the starter to the auxiliary battery, or tow the vehicle
|

Break in the battery wire

Check battery wire and terminals

Incandescent lamp burnt out
|
Replace lamp

Break in the wire between the ignition switch, control lamp and generator
|
Check the flow of current through the circuit with a test lamp
|
5.

A break in the wire «mass» between generator and engine block
|
Check wire
|
6.

Generator brush wear
|
Replace brushes
|
7.
|
Faulty voltage regulator
|
Replace Regulator
|
8.
|
Faulty generator
|
Repair or replace the generator
|
9.
|
The generator is still damp after washing the engine
|
Blow out the engine with compressed air

B. Red warning light comes on or dims when engine is running
