Note: The steering system must use a Ford recommended power steering fluid.
A low-pressure pump is usually used to bleed the power steering system, but air can also be removed using the method described below. Bleed the power steering system as follows:

- unscrew the expansion tank cap and fill it up to the "Max" mark on the outside with the liquid prescribed by Ford (Fig. 243);
- start the engine and slowly turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and left, the assistant at this time should ensure that the fluid level in the expansion tank is constantly at the specified level;
- if the volume of fluid in the tank no longer changes and there are no air bubbles in the fluid, this means that the hydraulic power steering has been bled;
- stop the engine, then start it again for a few seconds, then stop it again and check the fluid level again, it should be between the marks shown in Fig. 243.
