Removal
1. Remove the air cleaner assembly (chapter 4A).
2. Disconnect the clutch cable from the release lever by pulling the cable with pliers until the end of the cable comes out of the release lever.
3. Disconnect the cable sheath from the support lug located on top of the gearbox bell. Note the rubber damper on the end of the cable sheath (see Fig. 4.3).

4. From inside the passenger compartment, remove the lower portion of the steering column faceplate to access the clutch pedal. (See Chapter 11, paragraph 29).
5. Disconnect the pedal return spring from the pedal and bracket. Note that the spring is hooked into a small hole in the bracket that is not easy to see.
6. Unhook the cable from the pedal segment (see Fig. 4.6).

7. Pull the cable through the opening in the engine compartment bulkhead. Disconnect the cable from the support located near the brake booster. Pull the cable out of the engine compartment (see Fig. 4.7).

Installation
8. Pull the cable into the passenger compartment through the opening in the engine compartment bulkhead. Install the cable on the segment and secure its end (see Fig. 4.8).

9. Install the pedal return spring by hooking it into the small hole.
10. Connect the cable on the transmission side by passing it through the support lug located on top of the transmission and hooking it onto the release lever.
11. Install the rubber bushing into the cable support. Replace the bushing if necessary.
12. Adjust the pedal stroke (paragraph 3).
13. Check the operation of the clutch.
14. Install the trim panel onto the steering column.
15. Install the air cleaner (Chapter 4A).
