Removing and installing the clutch cable (Escort 4)

Removal

1. Press the clutch release lever against the bracket, remove the locking washer and sleeve and disconnect the cable.

2. Remove the left trim under the front panel. To do this, use a screwdriver to release 3 clamps, bend 2 tabs near the pedals and remove the trim.



3. Disconnect the cable (1) from the clutch pedal with the toothed sector and move it through the hole between the pedal and the toothed sector (2).

4. Pull the clutch cable out of the bulkhead on the engine compartment side.

Installation

1. From the engine compartment side, insert the cable into the bulkhead.

2. Connect the cable to the clutch pedal.

3. Connect the cable to the clutch release lever, press the lever against the bracket and install the bushing and locking washer.



4. Install the upholstery and secure it by bending the tabs and installing the clamps.
