2. Remove the spark plugs, turn off the ignition system by disconnecting the ignition coil electrical connector. Remove fuse #14 to turn off the fuel pump. Crank the engine with the starter until the oil pressure indicator goes out.
3. Then install the spark plugs and connect all the spark plug high-tension wires. Connect the ignition coil wiring and insert the fuel pump fuse. Turn on the ignition and listen to the fuel pump operation. It will work a little longer than usual due to the pressure drop in the system.
4. Start the engine, keeping in mind that this may take a little longer than usual due to the fuel system components being filled with fuel.
5. While the engine is idling, check for fuel, oil, and water leaks. Do not worry if there is light smoke and smell from heating parts that have traces of oil on them. If you have removed the hydraulic valve lifters, you may hear noise from the valve mechanism for a while. When the oil circulation in the lubrication system is restored and the pressure in the hydraulic valve lifters becomes normal, this noise will disappear.
6. Wait until the engine is idling until it warms up enough that you can feel hot water starting to circulate through the top hose. The engine should run smoothly at normal speed. Then turn it off.
7. After a few minutes, check the oil and coolant levels again (see chapter 1) and drink the working fluids to the required level.
8. There is no need to tighten the cylinder head bolts after the first start.
9. When installing new pistons, rings or crankshaft bearings, the engine must be run in as if it were new for the first 800 km. Do not allow the engine to run with the throttle fully open or at low speeds (with the gear engaged). After running in, it is recommended to replace the fuel and oil filters.
