What you need to have in the car going on a long journey

On a long journey, especially if the route is unfamiliar, you have to rely only on yourself and spare parts in the trunk. Below is a complete list of necessary parts, tools and supplies that may come in handy. You can change it according to your own needs. But even if you don't know how to repair a car at all, don't cut back on parts or tools. In an emergency, of course, you can stop a passing car, contact any car depot or a roadside car service, but it happens that this particular spare part (tool) may not be, and in the parts store - a day off.

Going on a long journey, additionally grab the following.

1. Optional tool kit:

- big hammer

– screwdrivers with flat and Phillips blades in three sizes: small, medium and large (power);

- chisel;

- a set of heads from «8» before «32» with extensions, crank, ratchet and cardan;

– set of TORX T keys;

- a key for bleeding the brakes and a thin hose 15–20 cm long;

- center punch;

- hacksaw for metal;

- a file with a notch of medium size;

- additional mounting blade;

- clamp;

- a coil of knitting wire;

– oil and petrol resistant sealant;

- several screw clamps of different diameters;

- a piece of sandpaper.

2. Stand for a jack - a wooden block 40x250x250 mm. Stand (type «tragus») to work under the car.

3. A can of engine oil.

4. Canister of antifreeze - 1 l (in winter - 5 l).

5. Oil for topping up in the power steering - 1 l.

6. Oil for topping up in the gearbox - 1 l.

7. A bottle of brake fluid - 0.5 liters.

8. A tube of grease Litol-24.


9. Canister with 10 liters of gasoline.

10. A special funnel for the fuel tank neck, which has a narrowing that excludes refueling with leaded gasoline.

11. Hose for transfusion of gasoline.

12. A special kit for repairing tubeless tires without stripping or sealant for wheels.

13. Wiper blades.

14. Proven thermostat.

15. Proven temperature sensor.

16. A set of spare brake pads.

17. Brake hoses (there are hoses of different sizes on the car, have one of each size).

18. A pair of nuts and wheel studs.

19. Box with bolts, nuts and washers (2–3 pcs. from M5 to M10), as well as with pins.

20. In winter - glass defroster and «liquid key» for locks.

21. Reinforced adhesive tape for repairing hoses.

22. Lantern on batteries or accumulators and a spare set of batteries for it.

23. Matches, hatchet.

24. Strong rope or cord.

25. Work gloves.

26. Something from work clothes.

27. Hand cleaner.

28. Mat for working under the car.

29. Soft pencil (can a felt-tip pen), several sheets of paper or notepad.
