- Acid-protective grease, such as BOSCH pole grease.
- Steel wire brush for cleaning poles and terminals.
You must have in stock: distilled water.
Cleaning the battery poles
When regularly inspecting the car, also clean the battery poles and connecting terminals, then lubricate them with acid-protective grease.
Checking the electrolyte level
In a commercially installed battery, once filled with an amount of electrolyte, it is usually enough for the entire service life of the battery. However, the electrolyte level must be constantly checked.
Attention! Do not breed near the battery of open fire. Explosion hazard!
The liquid level should be approximately 5 mm above the lead plates, i.e. approximately reach the marking on the outside of the battery. If the level is low, add distilled water to the required level. To do this, unscrew the plugs with a coin or a large screwdriver, and add distilled water to each battery cell separately.
Attention! Use only distilled water for topping up.
Check battery voltage, see 20.17.
