Passenger air filter: replace the filter insert. This operation is described in the "Heating" chapter, see p. 19.2.
Visual inspection of the underbody/body of the car
Check the condition of the paintwork regularly and clean the underbody of the car more often, see paragraph 18.1.
Visual inspection of seat belts
Warning! The noise produced by the automatic retracting seat belts is due to their operation. If the noise is the result of a malfunction, the seat belt can only be replaced. Never try to eliminate the noise by applying oil or protective grease. The automatic retracting seat belts cannot be disassembled, as this could cause the compressed spring to jump out and cause injury.
Pull the seat belt out completely and check the webbing for frayed fabric fibers. Damaged belt fabrics can be caused by the belt getting jammed or by a hot cigarette. In this case, replace the belt.
If there are worn areas without separation of the fabric fibers, the belt does not need to be changed.
Check the tight belt for twisting, if necessary remove the center column trim.
If the automatic belt retraction does not function, replace the belt.
Clean seat belt webbing only with soap and water, never use solvents or chemical cleaners.
Lubrication of locks
Lubricate door, engine hood and trunk lid locking devices with oil or grease.
In door locks, lubricate the locking pins, brackets and the contact areas of the rotary latches.
