Checking and replacing the reverse light switch

The reverse light switch is located on top of the gearbox housing.

You will need a key "on 22".

1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.



2. Squeeze the latch..



3.... and disconnect the wiring harness block from the sensor.



4. Loosen the sensor…

NOTE: Shown with gearbox removed for clarity.

5.... and unscrew it from the hole in the gearbox housing.



6. To test the switch, connect a tester in ohmmeter mode to its terminals. The resistance should tend to infinity. Push the plunger of the switch (shown by arrow) resistance should drop to zero. Otherwise, the switch is defective and must be replaced.

7. Install the reverse light switch in the reverse order of removal.
