Before disconnecting the battery, write down all the necessary codes for your Mondeo, such as the car radio anti-theft code, your recorded radio frequencies, etc. If you forget to do this, the radio will be muted in this situation, and the side windows will no longer go down: you must reactivate all the electric windows. In addition, the engine management "forgets" most of its information. It briefly switches to an emergency program and is usually restored in driving mode (maximum 16 kilometers). If this does not happen with your car, you will have to go to a Ford service center and download the data into the PCM again - this procedure takes several minutes.
This instruction generally applies to all work during which it is necessary to disconnect the battery.

ORDER OF EXECUTION |
- Remove the battery cover. To avoid a short circuit, first disconnect the negative battery cable. To do this, unscrew the terminal nut and disconnect the terminal from the battery pole.
- Disconnect and remove the positive battery cable.
- Unscrew the battery mounting bracket.
- Remove the battery from the engine compartment.
- When installing, make sure that the battery is positioned stably on the console (shaking will destroy the lead plates).
- When installing, first connect the positive wire, then the negative wire. The wire terminals cannot be mixed up, since the battery poles have different thicknesses.
- Lightly lubricate the poles against sulfation with anti-acid grease "Ft 40v1" (Bosch) or Vaseline.
- Re-enter the codes and run the engine for about three minutes at about 1500 rpm. This is the minimum time the engine management system needs to recover.
