Recharge the battery monthly if it has been removed or put into "hibernation". In a completely discharged battery, sulfuric acid crystals form and settle on the walls. Consequences: over time, the cells "glass" and become completely unusable. In addition, discharged batteries freeze at subzero temperatures, and can even crack below -4. On the contrary, overcharged batteries are not susceptible to cold. If you need to install the battery, then in order to "save the charge", in any case disconnect the negative wire (connection to ground).

ORDER OF EXECUTION |
- disconnect the negative wire (connection to ground) from the battery. Connect the positive wire of the charger (red) to the positive pole, and the negative wire (black) to the negative pole of the battery.
- The charging current should initially be about 10% of the battery capacity (e.g. 4.0 A for a 43 Ah battery) and should be automatically reduced during the charging process.
- During the charging process, tiny gas bubbles of hydrogen and oxygen form on top of the cells. This mixture evaporates through the vents or central ventilation system into the atmosphere. We are talking about the highly explosive oxyhydrogen gas here. Therefore, be careful in closed rooms. If you smell a pungent odor, its concentration in the room has become dangerous.
- Therefore, take good care of proper ventilation of the workplace. This applies especially to situations where strong charging currents occur. Detonating gas may appear and ignite, however, when "discharges" occur, when connecting and disconnecting the charger or battery cables. Therefore, observe safety regulations.
