Precautions when working with the ignition system (Mondeo 2)

Warning: The ignition system can generate voltages up to 32 kV - use caution when working on the ignition system.


Work on the ignition system must be carried out at specialized service stations.

When working with the ignition system, observe the following rules:

- when the engine and ignition system are running, people with a pacemaker are prohibited from working;

- it is prohibited to remove the ignition system wires when the engine is running and when the starter is turned on;

- carry out work on the ignition system with the ignition off;

- connect and disconnect measuring instruments only when the ignition is off;

- Do not connect the test lamp to the ignition coil terminals;

- do not turn the engine crankshaft with the starter unless all ignition system components are connected;

- Do not perform any tests while the engine is cranking with the starter or while the engine is running, if any wire is connected to the ground;

- do not short-circuit the ends of the high-voltage spark plug wires to ground.
