General information about the ignition system (Mondeo 2)

            0

The ignition system of all engines is connected to the fuel injection system and is controlled by the electronic engine control unit.

The engine is equipped with an ignition system without a distributor. The function of the distributor is performed by the ignition coil. Each time current from the ignition system is supplied to the ignition coil, the latter supplies a spark to two cylinders simultaneously: to the cylinder currently being "ignited" (in the piston position at TDC) and to the cylinder during the exhaust stroke.
