General information about the emission management system

            0

The vehicle is equipped with several emission control systems designed to reduce emissions of combustion products and fuel vapors, as well as to optimize the vehicle's dynamic performance and fuel efficiency. These include the following:
  • A) Forced crankcase ventilation system (PVC)
  • b) Fuel Evaporation Control System (WHALE)
  • V) Exhaust gas recirculation system (RVG)
  • G) Fuel afterburning system
  • d) Catalytic converter and oxygen sensor

This chapter presents: general information, control procedures (which are within the power of the car owner) and procedures for replacing components (where possible) for the above systems. It is possible to make assumptions about the malfunction of the emission control system only after a thorough check of the fuel system and the ignition system (chapter 4A and 5B). Diagnosis of some devices in the emission control system requires special equipment and experience. Therefore, if the procedure is difficult for you, consult your dealer.

At the same time, you can perform many verification procedures yourself.

Note: The most common cause of failure for the described systems is a broken electrical contact or a defective vacuum hose. Therefore, first of all, always check the electrical connectors and vacuum hoses.

Observe the special precautions in this chapter. Not all illustrations may accurately match your vehicle's systems. As the manufacturer continually improves products.

Some vehicles have a label with information about emission control systems and a diagram of the location of the vacuum hoses, which is fixed in the engine compartment. When servicing the engine or emission systems, check the information on the label to make sure it matches the current condition of the vehicle.
