The classic type contact ignition system includes a battery, ignition switch, ignition coil, distributor, additional resistor, high-voltage wires and spark plugs.
The ignition distributor is driven by the camshaft. The ignition advance angle is set by centrifugal and vacuum ignition advance regulators. The Lucas distributor has an additional cam that shifts the breaker contacts to the sides relative to each other, which reduces local erosion of the contacts and increases their service life.
