Checking the ignition timing

            0

1. Check and, if necessary, adjust the gap between the breaker contacts.

2. Make marks on the crankshaft pulley and drive cover corresponding to the required ignition timing.

3. Remove the vacuum tube from the ignition distributor and plug it with a plug.

4. Connect the strobe light, start the engine and direct the beam of light from the strobe light to the crankshaft pulley. The mark on the crankshaft pulley appears to be stationary and should line up with the mark on the drive cover. Otherwise, unscrew the fastening of the distributor and, turning it to the sides, achieve the alignment of the marks, and then fix the distributor.

5. Increase the engine speed to 2000 rpm and note the distance by which the mark on the crankshaft pulley will move.

6. Connect the vacuum tube and check the mark offset again, which should increase with respect to the previous measurement.

7. Otherwise, it is necessary to check the operation of the vacuum regulator or distributor as a whole.
