Contactless ignition system — general information

            0

The cars are equipped with a Bosch or Lucas contactless ignition system, where instead of the breaker contacts, a pulse sensor is installed that does not require maintenance. The impulse sensor consists of a magnet and a magnetic coil. The use of parts and assemblies of one system in another is unacceptable, with the exception of the ignition coil.

The use of an ignition coil from a contact ignition system in a contactless ignition system is unacceptable. Switch (electronic module) Bosch or AC Delko (Lucas) structurally combined with the ignition distributor.

When the distributor rotor rotates, the control rotor rotates with it and the distance between the control rotor and the magnetic coil constantly changes, as a result of which an alternating voltage is induced in the coil, according to which the commutator generates commutator control pulses. Sparking occurs when the pole of the control rotor is opposite the coil. The angle of the closed state is determined by the commutator and varies depending on the rotational speed.

Safety regulations

To avoid electric shock, do not touch high voltage wires while the engine is running.

It is strictly forbidden to connect a test lamp or a capacitor to terminal 1 of the ignition coil.

All connections of measuring devices should be made only with the ignition off.

When checking compression, remove the central wire from the ignition distributor and connect it to an additional spark plug fixed by the body to the ground.

Perform electric welding with the ignition off and the battery disconnected.
