Turn off the ignition.
Disconnect the spark plug wire ends from the spark plugs (see fig. F-1218).
Caution: Pull by the tip, not by the wire.
Squeeze both locking tabs on each spark plug wire end and disconnect the wires from the ignition coil.
Check the resistance of all four ignition wires between the ignition coil terminal and the spark plug tip terminal. Specified value: approximately 5 kOhm to max. 30 kOhm.
If the resistance is too high, clean the ends of the wires and repeat the test, replacing the corresponding wire if necessary.
Bend the spark plug wires sharply near the spark plug tips and check them for cracks; replace all spark plug wires if necessary.
Connect the ignition wires to the ignition coil, making sure the locking tabs snap into place.
Caution! The high-voltage wire sockets on the ignition coil are marked with numbers from "1" to "4". Connect the wires according to the ignition sequence 1-3-4-2. Cylinder 1 is located on the V-belt side of the engine (looking in the direction of travel - on the right).
