As a new vehicle, the Mondeo has a one-year general warranty, excluding current mileage. For body metal corrosion, Ford provides a twelve-year warranty.

After the expiration of the warranty period for a new car, a written contract is sent for the second year - with a maximum mileage of 50,000 kilometers - for warranty service and assistance in case of malfunctions of all major units. In the second year, the condition is that by the fourth year the mileage must be a maximum of 100,000 kilometers. For the first twelve «months of life» Mondeo Ford provides a European-level mobile warranty that includes «hotline» with the user, towing, parking and car rental services. Further, the mobile promise of the base Ford service point is valid. Therefore, if repairs are delayed beyond the Ford Dealer's specified time frame, you will be provided with a car rental, demo model, or transportation service.

Where to go with Mondeo - to the warranty or any workshop?


The question of which shop to find for your Mondeo is basically always an open question. In addition to the warranty workshop, there are other workshops with good recommendations. Many repairs in them are carried out at the same competent level as in the warranty workshops. Oil changes, new brake pads, brake discs, tires and shock absorbers are often even better. However, pay attention mainly to whether this workshop has a certificate of class and whether it belongs to a corporation of motorists. However, during the warranty period, you will still have the opportunity to visit the appropriate Ford warranty workshop. Most often this is caused by technical inspection or repair of units. Simple defects in polishing or metal can - despite the guarantee - be repaired by yourself or in one of the nearest workshops. When new repair problems appear, it is naturally better to act according to the factory warranty.

Inspection and Warranty The inspection primarily checks the condition and function of components that are particularly important for the reliable and safe operation of the vehicle. If necessary, worn parts are also replaced. Already after a run of 20,000 kilometers under adverse driving conditions, wear of parts in the brake system, wheel suspension, tires and steering mechanism can be clearly observed. Regular technical inspections therefore keep your Mondeo in good shape and, above all, it is aimed at your own safety. Ford recommends for Mondeo every 20,000 kilometers (for diesel 15,000 km) carry out a technical inspection with a simultaneous oil change. A complete check of the car should be carried out after 60,000 kilometers (diesel 45,000 km). If you drive a little, then still plan an annual engine oil change. If you own a new Mondeo or have just had an engine replaced, be sure to follow the prescribed service intervals and avoid self-service. Because Ford will only honor its eligible warranty obligations if the maintenance work has been carried out in a warranty workshop.




Written contract for repairs


Make a list of symptoms and deficiencies that have been noticed. Follow item by item of this list together with the master from the workshop or his representative. If, nevertheless, something remains unclear to you, then ask about it again. Show the identified shortcomings directly on the car. Complete your request for a repair.

If, for example, your car consumes too much fuel or starts poorly if the engine «stutters» or strange noises are heard on the wheels, then diagnosis will most often be more expensive than the actual repair. Therefore, limit the troubleshooting to the price limit as well. For answers to your inquiries, please provide the workshop with your telephone number. Typically, a recall should follow if the scope of the repair has become more extensive or more expensive than previously agreed parameters. You can also adhere to additional written agreements according to the contract with the workshop. In the event of an increased amount of work, ask the workshop to also send a preliminary cost estimate in writing. Reputable firms tend to calculate upfront costs in the event that subsequent repairs are not carried out. Due to unpredictable work in advance, the current calculation of the preliminary cost estimate can be exceeded by a maximum of 15-20%.

As soon as your Mondeo is exactly one year old, it makes sense to make a request for parts and services. Not only Ford warranty shops often offer a package of services that includes the purchase of genuine parts at a bargain price - you can save up to 30% on this. For example, ask your Ford dealer for a promotion «clean inside, below, outside». If replacement units are subject to payment, purchasing a new part should not always be your first choice: ask about the availability of prepared and tested replacement parts. This way you can save your «availability» - Naturally, with their comparable quality. Suitable replacement parts may be the engine, fuel injection system, transmission, clutch, alternator, starter and water pump. An oil change at a workshop or gas station sometimes costs a lot of money: their employees will gladly donate your car to a more expensive one «juice». Ask for cheap oils of the same specification - usually your Mondeo «running around» they are no worse.

Inspection with a master from the workshop - calculation of repair costs


After the repair, review the estimate provided by the workshop with the foreman or service consultant. Ask to explain to you incomprehensible abbreviations and special terms. The invoice should have line items such as payroll, material, and value added tax. Incorrect calculations can be claimed within six weeks of receipt.

Timely remind - unsatisfactory repair


Unsatisfactory repairs must be reported. Master class workshops must be responsible for it for six months (warranty obligations). Subsequent defects caused by improper repairs are of course also the responsibility of authorized workshops.
