Incorrect tire wear

            0

Slightly more wear on the edges of the tread than in the middle on the front wheels is normal, with the slope of the road causing one side of the tread to wear more than the other.

Uneven tread wear is most often the result of too low or too high tire pressures, but can also be caused by incorrect wheel alignment, imbalance, faulty shock absorbers, or a warped wheel rim.

Sawtooth tread wear is usually the result of overloading the vehicle.

First of all, check your tire pressure. Check tire pressure at least once a month.

Check pressure only when tires are cold. Tire pressure increases with temperature. Therefore, it is completely wrong to reduce the pressure in a hot tire. If the tire pressure is too high, the middle of the tread wears out more, as the tire becomes more convex under the influence of air pressure.

If the air pressure in the tire is too low, the edges of the tread will wear more, as they bear a greater load.

Incorrect wheel alignment and imbalance lead in each case to certain typical tread wear patterns, some of which are shown in the table "Tire Fault Diagnosis".
