The frame is a composite structure made of aluminum alloy castings and rectangular and round steel tubes. It is attached with bolts, screws and nuts to the front pillars and the body base, and is part of the body's power structure. The air ducts of the heating (air conditioning) and ventilation systems, the steering column and the climate control unit, as well as the wiring harnesses, are attached to the instrument panel frame.

WARNING: A front passenger airbag may be installed in area a (see Fig. 11.2) of the instrument panel. Unqualified removal of the instrument panel or repair of individual components may cause unexpected deployment of the airbag, which in turn may result in injury.
