Removal
1. This gear is mounted on the rear right side of the transmission. Apply the parking brake, lift the front end and place it on stands.
2. Loosen the nut and disconnect the speedometer cable from the vehicle speed sensor. Use one wrench to loosen the nut and hold the sensor with the other.
3. Disconnect the wiring from the vehicle speed sensor.
4. Remove the clamp bolt and clamp plate that secures the gear and vehicle speed sensor to the transmission.
5. Remove the pinion assembly with bearing together with the vehicle speed sensor.
6. Remove the vehicle speed sensor from the pinion bearing.
7. Remove the gear from the bearing.
8. Use a small screwdriver to remove the rubber O-ring from the bearing groove. Purchase a new one for installation.
9. Wipe the gear and bearing, as well as the mounting hole in the transmission housing.
Installation
10. Installation - in the reverse order of removal. Lubricate the new O-ring with oil and insert it into the transmission housing. Tighten the bolt with a clamp.
