Before replacing the wiper bearing, remove only the aerodynamic protection, remove the wiper arm as described above. Fig. 294 shows how the arm is attached to the spindle.
Replace the wiper bearing as follows:
- remove the trim in the engine compartment directly under the windshield as described above;
- unscrew the windshield wiper arm bolts (see description above) and remove the entire windshield wiper assembly;
- press the windshield wiper drive with a special key from the ball-head bolts;
- remove the cover on the end of the spindle shaft, press the spring retaining ring located behind it and remove both special washers, as well as the spring washers, pay attention to their location and the order of removal;
- install the new spindle in reverse order, lubricating before assembly.
Install in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the windshield wiper arm fastening to 8 Nm.
