1) does the windshield wiper move in both directions at the same speed, do the windshield wipers return to their original position after being turned off?;
2) does the intermittent wiper function?;
3) Is water sprayed from the windshield washer nozzles?;
4) Do the rear window wipers and washers work?.
Note: The windshield wiper and washer are protected by fuse #20 in the vehicle's fuse/relay box.
Filling the windshield washer reservoir with water
In summer, fill the tank with tap water, adding special detergents to improve the quality of work. In winter, add a special antifreeze. Fill the windshield washer tank with water as follows:
- first pour in the additional product, then add water so that they mix well;
- in severe frost, the windshield washer nozzles may freeze, so fill the reservoir with antifreeze.
Removing the wiper arm
To remove the windshield wiper arm, proceed as follows:
- pry the windshield wiper arm protective cover with a flat screwdriver and fold it back;
- loosen the fastening nut by two turns;
- move the lever from the side to release the cone of the wiper arm axis and not to damage the radiator grille, place a large rag on the right and left;
- completely unscrew the nut from the wiper arm axle and remove it;
- check the position in which the lever was installed, so that you can install it in the same position later, and disconnect the lever from the shaft;
- install the wiper arms so that they are parallel to the lower windshield gasket, make sure that the new arm is in the same position as the removed arm;
- after installation, turn on the windshield wipers and check that they move easily.
