Description of the central locking system (central lock) (Mondeo 1)

There are three different central locking systems available: single locking, double locking and double locking with infrared remote control.

Single lock



A single central locking system does not require a module. All four door locking motors (M19, M20, M21 and M22) are electrically connected to each other. If one of the front doors is mechanically closed or opened, current is supplied to the other three door locking motors and they are activated.

Double lock



The double locking of the four doors functions in the same way as the single locking. The motors of the tailgate/trunk lid (M39) can only be activated with double locking.

To activate the double locking system, the key must be moved first to the "unlock" position and then to the "lock" position within three seconds. These signals are sent from the door lock switches (N94 and N95) to terminals 10V, 11V, 15V or 13V, 14V, 16V of the door lock module (A28). The module only activates the system if a "door-closed" signal is sent to the corresponding terminals 8V, 6V, 7V and 5V from all door lock switches (N84, N85 and N86).

The door lock module (A28) controls the door lock motors (M19, M20, M22) and the tailgate/trunk lid motor (M39) on terminals 5A, 6A, 7A, 1B and 2B.

When the system is activated, the interior handles and the tailgate release lever are disconnected from the locking mechanism. An intermittent beep sounds from the control buzzer (HO) connected to the 12V terminal of the door lock module (A28), indicating that the system is set. If there is a malfunction, a long continuous beep sounds.



The system operation indicator lamp, depending on the equipment, is built into the clock (A39) or into the trip computer module (A37). When the ignition is switched on, a signal is sent to the 20B terminal of the door lock module (A28), and the indicator lamp lights for five seconds. If there is a malfunction, the lamp lights for twenty seconds.

Power supply is provided to the door lock module through terminals 3A, 2A and 19C.

The door lock diagnostic connector (D11) is connected to terminal 17B of the door lock module (A28).

Infrared remote control



When the infrared sensor built into the key is pressed in the direction of the infrared receiver (B34 and B35), a signal is sent to terminals 10, 3C, 4C, 5C of the door lock module (A28). As a result, the door lock motors are set to the corresponding position.
