To avoid damaging the underside of the vehicle, the car jack, like the tripod supports, can only be installed in certain places. Fig. 12 shows the underside of the vehicle with locations for installing the jack or a stationary lift at a service station, as well as the tripod supports. Their use is described in the vehicle's operating manual. If the manufacturer's manual is missing, for example when buying a used vehicle, the jack installation locations are easy to find, as they are identical to the recesses in the underside of the body. Before lifting the vehicle, make sure that the head of the car jack is installed in a place where no parts of the vehicle can be crushed or bent.
