Instrument panel

The figure shows two possible versions of the Ford Mondeo dashboard. Comments on each point are given below.

1. Direction indicator lamp

When the right or left turn signal is activated, the corresponding arrow on the right or left indicator lamp flashes. If one of the turn signal circuits is faulty, the flashing frequency doubles.

2. Ignition indicator light

The ignition control lamp should always light when the ignition is turned on or the car is warming up. If the lamp lights up in any other case, you should immediately contact the nearest Service Center.

3. Control lamp of the constant speed device (tempostat)

Details of the automatic tempostat operation are described in Section 10.

4. High beam indicator lamp

Lights up when the high beam headlights or headlight signaling are turned on.

5. Airbag warning light

It lights up when the ignition is switched on (position II) for about 5 seconds. This means that the airbag is in good working order and ready to operate. Details of the airbag operation are described in Section 20.

6. Stability control system indicator lamp

This lamp lights up continuously when the system is switched off and flashes when the system is switched on. If the lamp does not flash or light up approximately 3 seconds after the ignition is switched on or remains on while driving when the system is not switched on, there is a malfunction in the system. In case of such malfunctions, contact the Service Center. Details on the operation of the stability control system are described in Section 22.

7. Economy/Sport (AT) mode indicator lamp

This lamp lights up when the Sport mode is selected. Details on the modes are described in Section 14.

8. Overdrive indicator lamp (AT)

This lamp comes on when the selector lever is in position D and comes on when the upshift is disengaged. Details are described in Section 14.

9. Anti-lock braking system (ABS) indicator light

If this lamp lights up while driving, it means that the ABS is damaged. In this situation, the standard brake system continues to work, but you should immediately check the ABS at the nearest Service Center. Additional information on the operation of the ABS is contained in the chapter "Brakes".

10. Brake system indicator lamp

This light goes out when the parking brake is released. If it remains on, the brake fluid level is low.

Warning: You should immediately add brake fluid to the MAX mark, then check the operation of the brake system at the nearest Service Center. If the indicator lamp lights up while driving, this means that one of the brake circuits is damaged.

The second circuit remains intact, so you can carefully continue driving to the nearest Service Center.

Warning: Please remember that the braking distance will increase and you will have to press harder on the pedal when braking.

11. ABS and brake system warning lights

If both lights come on at the same time, you must stop immediately and contact the Service Center before resuming movement.

Warning: Please remember that the braking distance will increase and you will have to press harder on the pedal when braking.

12. Oil pressure indicator light

If the light comes on while driving, you must stop, turn off the engine and check the oil level. If it is below the norm, add oil up to the MAX mark.

13. Pre-glow control lamp

This lamp lights up when the ignition is on. The engine should not be started until the lamp goes out.

14. Fuel reserve indicator lamp

If it lights up, it means you are running low on fuel and need to refuel as soon as possible. The arrow next to the image of the gas pump shows which side the gas cap is on.

15. Front fog light indicator lamp

It lights up when the front fog lights are turned on.

16. Rear fog light indicator lamp

It lights up when the rear fog lights are turned on.

17. Tachometer

The tachometer shows the engine speed per minute. The maximum permissible engine speed for the Ford Mondeo is given in the Specifications. The tachometer on the diesel engine records up to 6000 rpm.

18. Engine temperature gauge

Shows the engine coolant temperature. When the temperature is normal, the arrow stays in the "Normal" area. If the arrow goes into the red zone, the engine is overheating. In this case, the engine should be turned off and then the cause of overheating should be determined.

Warning: When the engine is "boiling", do not remove the cap from the expansion tank under any circumstances! The engine can only be started after the fault has been eliminated.

19. Speedometer

The speedometer shows the speed of the car.

20. Total mileage counter (odometer)

Shows the total mileage in km.

21. Daily mileage counter

The counter shows the number of kilometers traveled since it was set to zero. To reset the mileage figure to zero, you need to press the button.

22. Fuel level indicator

It shows the approximate amount of fuel in the tank. After the tank is filled, you need to drive some distance - the arrow will start moving to the left, indicating a decrease in the fuel level. You need to refuel when the arrow enters the red zone.
