It is better to check the operation of the brake lights with an assistant. Press your foot on the brake, and the assistant checks whether the lamps light up. You can also check the brake lights without outside help: park the car with the back of the garage door and press your foot on the brake pedal. The red light of the lamp will be reflected from the garage door. If any lamp does not light up, replace the incandescent bulb; if both lights do not come on, the brake light switch may be faulty.
