1. Check the ovality, taper and size of the main and connecting rod journals of the crankshaft.

2. When the crankshaft journals are reduced by 0.25 mm, a green mark is applied to the counterweight.

3. On crankshafts with a standard minimum permissible diameter of the main journals, a yellow mark is applied to the counterweight. In this case, a standard insert is installed in the cylinder block socket, and an insert with a yellow mark is installed in the cover.

4. Check the condition of the flywheel. If defects are visually detected on the flywheel ring gear, it must be replaced.

5. Knock off the flywheel ring gear with a hammer, cool the flywheel, heat the new ring gear to a temperature of 260–280°C and put the ring gear on the flywheel.

6. If there are scratches and marks on the flywheel surface that is mated with the clutch disc, they must be removed by grinding the flywheel, provided that the overall balance of the crankshaft with the flywheel is maintained.

7. Visually check the wear of the oil pump parts. If wear of the gear teeth is detected and there is a gap between the outer gear and the pump body, the pump must be replaced.

8. The crankshaft sealing rings and all gaskets must be replaced.
