Thermostat housing and thermostat

1 - gasket; 2 - retaining ring; 3 - thermostat; 4 - rubber ring; 5 - thermostat housing, 6 - plug; 7 - washer; 8 - temperature sensor

The location of the fuel injection system on the engine

1 - ventilation valve; 2 - thermostat; 3 - intake manifold; 4 - starting valve; 5 - throttle body; 6 - air supply pipe; 7 - fuel distributor

The engine is removed from the car along with the gearbox from under the car. If the gearbox is previously removed or disconnected and left in place, the engine is removed from the engine compartment upwards. Next, consider the removal of the engine, when the gearbox is disconnected and remains in place in the engine compartment.

1. Remove ground wire from battery.

2. Remove the hood after disconnecting the windshield washer tubes and noting the position of the hood hinges.

3. Remove the crankcase breather hose from the cylinder head and intake manifold.

4. Remove the hose connecting the intake manifold to the vacuum brake booster.

5. Remove the air filter and hot air intake.

6. On a fuel injected engine, remove the air hose connecting the fuel dispenser and throttle valve.

7. Drain the coolant from the engine.

8. Remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing (2), outlet tube (1) and heater hose (3).

9. Remove thermostat.

10. On an engine with a fuel injection system, disconnect the hoses going to the oil cooler from the water pump and from the distributor tee.

11. Remove the coolant supply hose from the carburetor automatic choke control (A) and from the distributor (IN).

12. Remove the carburetor throttle cable, having previously disconnected the spring clip (1) and unscrew the bracket (2).

13. Remove the fuel line from the fuel pump.

14. On an engine with a fuel injection system, unscrew the fuel pipes from the warm-up regulator, starting valve and fuel dispenser (see fig. The location of the fuel injection system on the engine).

Attention! The fuel system is under pressure, so be careful when unscrewing the fuel pipes.

15. Remove the crankcase breather hose.

16. Disconnect and tag the wires from the alternator, starter, radiator fan temperature sensor, coolant temperature sensor, oil pressure sensor, reversing light switch and idle solenoid valve.

17. On an engine with a fuel injection system, disconnect and tag the wires from the starting valve, warm-up regulator, temperature-time sensor, additional air damper and ground from the throttle valve.

18. Raise the car.

19. Remove the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

20. Unscrew the 2 bolts and remove the clutch housing cover.

21. Unscrew the starter mounting bolts and remove it.

22. Unscrew the ground wire from the engine block.

23. Unscrew the two lower bolts securing the gearbox to the engine.

24. Lower the car.

25. Unscrew the four upper bolts securing the gearbox to the engine.

26. Install a jack under the gearbox and raise the gearbox through the board.

27. Hook the cable to the engine lugs and, without lifting the engine, tension the cable so that its entire weight is taken up by the lifting device.

28. Unscrew the engine mount bracket from the engine block.

29. Using extreme caution, separate the engine from the gearbox until the splines of the driven disc hub disengage from the input shaft, and lift it up out of the engine compartment.
