1. Apply a thin layer of grease to the splines of the gearbox input shaft and the release bearing guide sleeve.

2. Place the gasket on the guide pins (indicated by arrows) and secure it with grease.

3. Carefully lower the engine into the engine bay, position it against the gearbox, and insert the gearbox input shaft into the engine. If the input shaft does not fit into the engine, rotate the crankshaft until the splines on the shaft and clutch disc align.

4. Screw the upper gearbox mounting bolts to the engine.

5. Tighten the engine mount bolts.

6. Remove the jack from under the gearbox and raise the car.

7. Screw the lower gearbox mounting bolts to the engine.

8. Install the clutch cover.

9. Install the exhaust pipe.

10. Lower the car.

11. Install the starter.

12. Connect the ground wire connecting the body to the engine.

13. On an engine with a fuel injection system, connect the previously marked wires to the starting valve, heating regulator, temperature-time sensor, additional air damper and ground to the throttle valve.

14. Connect the previously marked wires to the generator, radiator fan, starter, coolant temperature sensor, oil pressure sensor, radiator fan switch, reverse light switch and idle speed solenoid valve.



15. Install the crankshaft V-pulley.

16. Install the timing belt cover.

17. Install the generator.

18. Install the hose connecting the intake manifold to the brake booster.

19. Install the crankcase ventilation hose from the cylinder head and intake manifold.

20. On an engine with a fuel injection system, install an air hose connecting the fuel metering device and the throttle valve fitting.

21. Install the fuel line to the fuel pump.

22. On an engine with a fuel injection system, install the fuel lines to the warm-up regulator, starting valve and fuel metering device.

23. Install the carburetor throttle cable with spring clip and bracket.

24. Install the coolant supply hose to the carburetor choke control mechanism and distributor.

25. On an engine with a fuel injection system, install hoses from the water pump and from the distributor tee going to the oil radiator.

26. Install the thermostat.

27. Install the upper radiator hose, drain pipe and heater hose onto the thermostat housing.

28. Fill the engine with coolant.

29. On an engine with a fuel injection system, install an air hose connecting the fuel metering device and the throttle valve fitting.

30. Install the air filter and heated air intake.

31. Install the hood and connect the windshield washer pipes.

32. Connect the ground wire to the battery.

33. Check the engine oil level.

34. Start the engine and check the tightness of the hose installation.

35. Check the initial ignition timing setting.

36. Check engine idle parameters.

37. Check the coolant level.
