Thermal time switch
The thermal time switch is located under the intake manifold on the flange of the air duct of the second cylinder and controls the starting injector depending on the engine temperature.
The thermal time switch is checked on a cold engine without removing the switch.
Examination
1. Remove the electrical connector from the starting injector and connect a 12-volt test light in its place.
2. Remove the high-voltage wire from the ignition distributor and connect it to the additional spark plug attached to the engine.
3. Turn on the starter. When the engine is cold, the indicator lamp should light for up to 8 seconds. Otherwise, the thermal time switch must be replaced.
4. If necessary, you can remove the thermal time switch from the engine by disconnecting the connector and unscrewing the switch, and check the resistance between the contacts. On one of the edges of the thermal time switch, the switch-on temperature is stamped - 35°C and the switch-on time is stamped - 8 seconds at -20°C.
5. Connect an ohmmeter to the contacts and check the resistance (see table. Checking resistance).
