A faulty starting injector makes it difficult to start the engine, impairs transient operation and increases fuel consumption.

The starting injector is checked on a cold engine.

Examination

1. Remove the wire connector from the starting injector.

2. Unscrew the 2 mounting bolts and remove the injector without disconnecting the fuel hose from it.

3. Connect the additional air damper connector to the starting injector.

3. Connect the additional air damper connector to the starting injector.

4. Close the speed control relay circuit using an additional wire with a 16 amp fuse, remove the speed control relay and close terminals 30 and 87.

5. Insert the starting nozzle into a glass container and turn on the starter. If the starting nozzle is working properly, fuel should be sprayed evenly from it.

6. Turn off the starter, remove the starting nozzle from the glass container and wipe it dry. No fuel should appear from the sprayer for 1 minute.

7. In case of uneven fuel atomization and leakage, the starting injector must be replaced.
