Adjusting the idle speed

Adjustment
1. Warm up the engine to operating temperature.
2. Turn off all electrical consumers.
3. On the XR3 engine, disconnect the radiator fan temperature sensor connector and short-circuit both contacts with a jumper to enable the fan to operate continuously.
4. On the Turbo RS engine, remove the connector from the electrohydraulic regulator.
5. Check the initial ignition timing setting.
6. Connect a tachometer to the engine (with the ignition off).
7. Increase engine speed to 3000 rpm and hold it for 30 seconds, then return the engine to idle.

8. Adjust the idle speed with the screw (1) located on the throttle body (2 – vacuum hose from the ignition distributor, 3 – air hose fitting).
Idle speed value
| Engine | Idle speed, rpm |
| XR3/ Orion | 850±50 |
| 1600 RSi | 900±25 |
| Turbo RS | 850±50 |
