Withdrawal

Remove the ground wire from the battery. Remove the auxiliary drive belt.

Remove the crankshaft pulley, toothed belt cover, toothed belt, crankshaft toothed pulley, axle ring and oil pan. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the oil intake pipe (see fig. 2B.47).

Unscrew the pump and remove it from the front of the engine. The sealing ring in the oil pump housing must be replaced.

Installation

Before installing the oil pump, clean the mating surfaces. Before installing the oil pump, to prevent damage to the oil seal, remove the key from the crankshaft and wrap the crankshaft trunnion with adhesive tape. If the oil pump has been dismantled or if a new pump is to be installed, it must be filled with engine oil before the pump is installed. To do this, turn the pump drive shaft while injecting clean engine oil into the pump at the same time (see fig. 2B.48).

Install the oil pump on the crankshaft and move it into place. Check that the mating surfaces of the pump, cylinder block and oil pan are aligned, then tighten the pump mounting bolts. Remove the adhesive tape from the crankshaft stub (see fig. 2B.49, 2B.50).

Install the oil receiver tube using a new gasket and tighten the bolts to the correct torque.

Install the axle ring on the front end of the crankshaft, then insert the key into the groove of the crankshaft.

Install the oil pan, crankshaft pulley, toothed belt, toothed belt cover and auxiliary drive belt pulley. Install and adjust the tension of the auxiliary drive belt.

Lower the car and connect the battery.
