Withdrawal




Remove the ground wire from the battery. Drain the engine oil. Refit the oil pan drain plug.

Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands.

Remove the oxygen sensor multi-pin connector.





Remove the nuts and separate the exhaust pipe from the manifold. The exhaust pipe seal must be replaced with a new one. Hang the exhaust pipe to the body with a soft wire.


On engines 1.6 dm3, unscrew the mounting bolts, and remove the auxiliary suspension mounting the gearbox to the engine.

Unscrew the mounting bolts, and remove the clutch cover plate (see fig. 2V.44).



Gradually unscrew the bolts securing the oil pan to the crankcase, then use the lever to separate and remove the pan.

Remove dirt and old gasket from sump and crankcase mating surfaces, and wash sump before reinstalling. Check that the oil strainer is clean.

Installation


Completely clean the mating surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block. Apply sealant to the front and rear of the cylinder block at the gasket locations (see fig. 2B.45).



Install new rubber pads in the front and rear of the cylinder block. Screw 10 struts into the cylinder block.


Install a new gasket on the racks Install the oil pan in place, while the gasket should not move. Insert the bolts into the free holes and screw them in by hand. Unscrew the racks and screw in the remaining bolts, tightening them by hand. Tighten the oil pan bolts in sequence to the correct torque (see fig. 2B.46).



Check that the oil drain plug is in place and tightened securely to the correct torque.

Install the plate to the front of the clutch housing. Screw the exhaust pipe to the manifold. Lower the car and fill the engine with engine oil. Connect ground wire to battery.
