Timing Belt Cover (Escort 5)

Removal

Remove the ground cable from the battery.

Remove the two bolts securing the power steering pipe support brackets and move the pipe away from the upper housing.

Unscrew the two mounting bolts and remove the upper timing belt cover (see Fig. 2B.9).



Remove the crankshaft pulley.

Unscrew the two bolts securing the lower timing belt cover and remove it (see Fig. 2B.10).

Installation

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the cover mounting bolts to the required torque.

Connect the battery ground cable.
