Examination
Turn on the ignition and listen to the fuel pump (you should be able to hear the sound of the electric motor running from under the rear seat). Each time you turn on the ignition, the pump should turn on for 1-2 seconds. If the pump turns on and works constantly, then the ECU unit may be faulty and the car should be taken to a service station for a complete check of the fuel system.
Check the operation of the fuel pressure regulator, which is determined by the pulsations of fuel in the regulator and the supply hose from the fuel filter. If the pump does not work, then check the fuse, relay and wiring. Also check that the automatic switch of the fuel pump is on.
Fuel pressure control
It is necessary to use a pressure gauge, which should be connected to the fuel line between the fuel filter and the injector. Start the engine. After the pressure in the fuel system has stabilized, take readings from the pressure measuring device and compare it with the required pressure. If the pressure exceeds the required, check the throughput of the return fuel line. If the pressure is lower than required, replace the fuel pressure regulator.
Turn off the engine and check the pressure after 1 minute. If the pressure is below normal, check the fuel injector sealing ring and replace it if necessary. Disconnect the fuel pressure measuring device from the line. Start the engine and check the fuel system for leaks.
