Removal
The fuel pump and fuel level sensor are attached to a cap that is installed on top of the fuel tank. To remove the fuel pump, remove the fuel tank.
Using a special FORD 23-026 key, unscrew the cover with the fuel pump and fuel level sensor (see Fig. 4B.3).
Pull the cap with the fuel pump and fuel level sensor upwards from the tank and remove the O-ring. The O-ring is replaced every time the cap is removed.
Installation
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Before installation, lubricate the new O-ring and do not damage or deform the O-ring when installing the cover. Install the cover so that the cover protrusion enters the groove of the fuel tank. Turn the cover until it is fully locked (see Fig. 4B.5).
