Removing the accelerator cable from the carburetor

Fastening the accelerator cable to the carburetor



The cable and spring must not be taut.

Removal



1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.

2. Remove the decorative trim under the instrument panel.

3. Remove the accelerator cable from the pedal by lifting the pedal away from the floor and, having loosened the cable, removing the rubber cone and then the cable itself from the groove in the pedal.

4. Remove the accelerator cable through the bulkhead into the engine compartment.

5. Remove the air filter.

6. Remove the throttle cable by sliding the spring clip and removing the cable end from the ball head on the throttle lever, and using a screwdriver, pry up the retaining spring clips and remove the cable from the bracket.

7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Adjustment



1. Press the accelerator pedal all the way down and hold it in this position.

2. Unscrew the adjusting nut on the cable to the maximum valve opening position.
