Withdrawal


The ignition unit is located on the left wing of the engine compartment.

Remove the negative terminal from the battery.

Disconnect the vacuum hose from the block (see fig. 5B.5).



Depending on the type, press the locking tab or unscrew the fastening screw and disconnect the electrical connector from the unit (see fig. 5B.6).



Unscrew the fastening screws and remove the block from the engine compartment.

Installation


Installation is done in sequence. reverse withdrawal. When installing the ignition module on a 1.6 liter CVH engine with power steering, air conditioning and automatic transmission, perform the following steps. After installing a new unit, clear its memory and reprogram.


Switch off the ignition and disconnect the throttle position sensor connector at the carburetor.

Using a short extension wire, connect the signal clamp and the ground clamp on connector 8 (see fig. 5B.7).



Disconnect the ignition module service connector, which is a small connector similar to the throttle position sensor. but connected to the main braid of the electrical wiring with three wires The connector is located either next to the ignition unit or on the bulkhead of the engine compartment near the carburetor (see fig. 5B.8).



If the connector has a wire connected to the center clamp (5). disconnect the wire. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.

Using an additional wire, connect the contact (5) ground connector for about 5 seconds. Switch off the ignition and remove the additional wire connecting the contact (5) ground connector. Remove the extra wire shorting the throttle position sensor connector and reconnect the connector. Start the engine.

Switch off the ignition and if the contact (5) ignition unit service connector had a wire connected to this terminal, reconnect the wire.
