The location of the oil filler plug on the gearbox of late models

1. Install the car in a horizontal position above the inspection hole. Check the oil level no earlier than 5 minutes after stopping the engine.

2. Clean the area around the oil fill plug on the gearbox (see fig. The location of the oil filler plug and the cover of the retaining ring of the gear shaft and fig. The location of the oil filler plug on the gearbox of late models).

3. Read the code and number on the plate attached under one of the upper gearbox mounting bolts. If the last letter is D - the gearbox was manufactured before August 1985, and if E - from August 1985.

4. On early gearboxes, the oil level should be 5–10 mm below the lower edge of the oil level plug hole.

5. On late gearboxes, the oil level should be 0–5 mm below the lower edge of the oil level plug hole.

6. Changing the oil in a manual transmission is not provided. However, if you need to drain the oil from the gearbox, you must install a container under the union nut (arrow) fasteners of the shift rod, unscrew the nut and drain the oil.
