Removal and installation of the distributor

For engine models GMA and GPA


Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, remove the high voltage wires from the distributor cap and disconnect the tube from the vacuum regulator. Remove the center wire from the ignition coil. Unscrew the three mounting bolts and remove the distributor. Before installing the distributor, check the condition of the gasket 5 (rice. 7.22) and position the clutch 3 according to the socket on the camshaft (pic. 7.34).



Install the distributor. Align the mark on the distributor body with the mark on the cylinder head (pic. 7.35), reinstall the high voltage wires and the vacuum regulator tube.



If a new distributor is being installed, then turn it so. so that the mounting bolts are in the middle of the holes.


For GLA model engine


Disconnect the negative cable from the battery and remove the high voltage wires from the distributor cap. Turn the crankshaft and set the piston of the first cylinder to TDC on the compression stroke. Remove bolt 3 (rice. 7.21) distributor mountings. Mark the position of the rotor relative to the distributor housing. Before installing the distributor, make sure that the piston of the first cylinder is at TDC on the compression stroke. Check the angle of the cam with the device on the stand or the gap between the contacts with the feeler gauge.

Install the distributor in place according to the position of the rotor before removal. Connect the wires in order. indicated on rice. 7.30, and battery wires. Set ignition timing as described below.
