Disconnect the negative cable from the battery and remove the high voltage wires from the distributor cap. Remove the cover and rotor, disconnect the low voltage wire and remove the terminal panel (pic. 7.36).

Install the panel, fasten it with a screw and connect the low voltage wire. Lubricate the cams with the grease supplied with the new panel.

NOTE: When installing a Lucas distributor, make sure the moving contact movement cam is seated on the stud and both washers are on the mounting screw. Rotate the crankshaft so that the insulator of the moving contact lever is on top of the distributor drive cam and use a feeler gauge to adjust the gap between the contacts. Check the clearance on the opposite lobe of the cam. Install the rotor and distributor cap and connect the high voltage wires and the negative wire to the battery. Check and, if necessary, adjust the ignition timing. Check the angle of the closed state of the contacts using a special device.
