NOTE: As a temporary measure, it is permissible to adjust the contact gap with a feeler gauge. The cam angle should be measured at the first opportunity.
Adjusting the gap between contacts (Escort 3)
Attach the cam angle tester according to the manufacturer's instructions. Measure the cam angle at idle and at 2000 rpm, which should be within 48-52°. Stop the engine, remove the distributor cover and rotor. With the ignition on, adjust the gap between the contacts by turning the crankshaft with the starter. Check the adjustment at 2000 rpm.
