Disconnect the ground wire from the battery clamp.
Remove the wire from the coil side that connects it to the ignition distributor.
Remove the distributor cap.
Removal
Remove the multi-pin connector plug from the ignition distributor socket (Fig. 2.156).

Make a mark with a scriber on the distributor housing and on the flange located next to the cylinder head.
Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the ignition distributor (Fig. 2.157).

Installation
Check the condition of the gasket located on the flange of the ignition distributor. If it turns out to be damaged, replace it with a new one.
The ignition distributor drive leash projection must be installed in the correct mounting position relative to the interacting parts of the ignition distributor. The connection of these two parts is possible only in one of their mutual installations.
Install the ignition distributor according to the mark on the body and flange.
Temporarily screw in the distributor, but do not tighten the mounting bolts completely yet.
Install the distributor cap. Make electrical connections.
Attach the strobe lamp according to the relevant instructions.
Start the engine.
Adjust the ignition timing at a rotation speed of:
- for 1.4i engines - 750 rpm.
- for 1.6i engines - 950 rpm.
The correct ignition timing angle under these conditions should be 10° before TDC (Fig. 2.158).

The ignition advance angle is adjusted by turning the ignition distributor. The current position of the ignition point (advance) is observed on the crankshaft belt pulley, which serves to drive the generator.
After completing the adjustment and checking the correct setting of the ignition timing angle, tighten the bolts securing the ignition distributor.
