Removal and installation of the distributor of ignition

            0

Disconnect the ground wire from the battery clamp.

Remove from the side of the coil the wire connecting it to the ignition distributor.

Remove the ignition distributor cap.

Withdrawal

Remove the plug from the ignition distributor (pic. 2.156).

Make a sign with a scriber on the ignition distributor housing and on the flange located next to the block head.

Unscrew the fixing bolts and remove the ignition distributor (pic. 2.157).

Installation

Check up a condition of a lining which is on a flange of the distributor of ignition. If it appears to be damaged, replace it with a new one.

The protrusion of the ignition distributor drive drive must be installed in the correct mounting position relative to the interacting parts of the ignition distributor. The connection of these two parts is possible only in one of their mutual installation.

Establish the distributor of ignition on a sign. made on the body and flange.

Temporarily screw the ignition distributor, but do not completely tighten the fixing bolts yet.

Put on the ignition distributor cap. Install electrical connections.

Attach the strobe lamp according to the appropriate instructions.

Start the engine.

Adjust the ignition timing at a speed of:
  • for 1.4i engines - 750 rpm.
  • for 1.6i engines - 950 rpm.

The correct ignition timing under these conditions should be 10°BTDC (pic. 2.158).

The ignition timing is adjusted by turning the ignition distributor. Point's current position (advancing) ignition is observed on the crankshaft belt pulley, which serves to drive the generator.

After completing the adjustment and checking the correct setting of the ignition timing, tighten the bolts securing the ignition distributor.
