Ignition and injection control system in 1.4i/1.6i engines

On fig. 2.155 wiring diagram of the ignition system and fuel injection system.

The ignition timing control pulses are generated in the ignition distributor. The electrical energy required to ignite the mixture in individual engine cylinders is transferred from the ignition distributor cap to the spark plugs in the form of high voltage current.

The optimum ignition timing is calculated using the EEC control module. The control module receives the necessary information in the form of signals transmitted by sensors that respond to changes in selected engine parameters.

The energy transmitted from the ignition distributor, which is necessary for the formation of a spark that ignites the mixture in the cylinder, is very large compared to the energy generated in traditional ignition systems. Therefore, do not touch conductive parts of the ignition system while the engine is running or when the ignition is on.
